An Improved Robust Fractal Image Compression Based on M-Estimator

In this paper, a robust fractal image compression method based on M-estimator is presented. The proposed applies the to parameter estimation in encoding procedure using Huber and Tukey’s statistics. M-estimation reduces influence of outliers makes algorithm noisy image. Meanwhile, quadtree partitioning approach has been used methods improve efficiency algorithm, some unnecessary computations are eliminated procedures. experimental results demonstrate that insensitive corrupted comparative data shows superior both time quality retrieved images over other algorithms. useful for multimedia archiving, low-cost consumption applications progressive transmission live images, reducing computing compression.
